8th International Conference on the Re-use of Public Sector Information

As every year, the Multisectoral Information Association organizes the International Conference on the Re-use of Public Sector Information to be held next Thursday, November 24: an opportunity for representatives of the public sector, independent organizations, businesses and users to meet and discuss the importance of the infomediary sector in the current economic, political and social context.

The place chosen to host the event is the Patent and Trademark Office (OEPM) in Madrid, given the institution's commitment to the openness of public data. This agency has its own open data portal, where the data is published in reusable format so the community can create services derived from them. Thus, its catalogue includes five categories of Industrial Property data, as well as a set of web services, designed for reusers to automatically process the data generated by the OEPM.

During the conference the Ministry of Public Works will present the new open data policy and the conclusions reached after the INSPIRE 2016 meeting, on the openness of spatial data, and the VII Iberian Conference on Spatial Data Infrastructures, JIIDE 2016. On the part of the State Secretariat for the Information Society and the Digital Agenda, Cristina Morales will present the main results of the recent International Open Data Conference (IODC), as well as the advances in regulations for the re-use of public sector information, both at European and national level.

In addition, the Data Protection Agency will show the last two guides elaborated to explain how to protect the personal data during the re-use of them and how to hide the personal data in the processes of anonymisation of the information. Finally, the representative of the Service Coordination of Commercial Records, Ana Mª del Valle, will make a presentation on the interconnection of records and the re-use of information. Finally, the Deputy Director of the Office of Transparency and Access to Information, will report on the immediate plans linked to the transparency portal.

Moreover, the program of this eighth edition involve international experts such as José María Alonso, director of the WWW Foundation, who will focus his talk on the demands of open data in Spain and the world; and a representative of the Argentine Embassy in Spain will be there to discuss the open data panorama in the Latin American country, which will host the next IODC in 2018.

Finally, the ASEDIE Prize will be awarded during this event; for the third consecutive year, the association will emphasize the importance of information in national economic development.
