Evaluation of the Aporta Initiative 2019
Fecha de la noticia: 26-12-2019

In the Aporta initiative, we started 2019 with a wide list of New Year's resolutions, which revolved around a common goal: to continue growing and boosting the open data ecosystem in Spain. Now that the year is over, it's time to evaluate and see if we have achieved our goals.
2019 has been a successful year for the Aporta Initiative. One more year, we continue to be positioned among the leaders of open data in Europe, ranking second in the European Data portal maturity index. This year we have increased our score by 9% over the previous year, standing out in the categories of "portal" and "impact" where we rank first.
In addition, the growth of visitors to data.gob.es has been remarkable: we have exceeded 700,000 visits, 36% more than in 2018. Our data catalogue has also increased, which currently has more than 25,000 datasets published by 141 organisms; and we have grown in social networks, expanding our twitter and linkedin communities by 10% and 26% respectively.
2019 has also brought a lot of news to the portal, such as the new innovation blog or sector sections, currently dedicated to the culture and agriculture segments. We have published reports on different topics, conducted new interviews and written over 100 articles aimed at disseminating trends and developments in the open data universe: leading initiatives, success stories both in the publication and in the reuse of data, etc.
And we cannot forget the events and activities developed, such as the Aporta Meeting 2019 that hung the full capacity poster to discuss high-value data; o the Aporta Sector Sectorial Conference: Agro Sector, where experts in the field discussed the challenges in the sector and how open data could help solve them. Also noteworthy is the Aporta Challenge 2019, which received 40 ideas to improve the efficiency of the agricultural, forestry and rural areas and culminated in the victory of Optimacis, followed by CopperApp and Ecoveo.
Now that 2020 begins, we have to re-elaborate our of list of New Year's resolutions, which we hope to overcome with the help of all the publishers and reusers that every year make the Initiative grow. Thank you!
