The provincial government of Castellon launches its Reusers Council

A year ago, the provincial government of Castellon (Diputación de Castellón) approved its Provincial Open Data Strategy, with the objective of “Driving and providing public data to society as a whole to boost the knowledge economy through collaboration and interaction of multiple provincial actors”.
Among the actions aimed at achieving this objective, are the implementation of a new open data portal, the approval of a plan for data model standardization or the boosting and definition of alliances with reusers. This last action framed the creation of the Provincial Council of Reusers, whose constitutive session was held this November.
What is the Provincial Council of Reusers?
The Provincial Council of Reusers is a consulting body created to suggest, guide and deliberate about the content to publish on the open data portal of the Castellón provincial government. In this way, it is sought to ensure that the published data are aligned with the users’ needs and interests.
One of its functions is to support the Administration and Public Innovation Service in the development of the Provincial Open Data Strategy, as well as participate in the development and implementation of projects aimed at reusing, disseminating, sharing and generating datasets technologically sustainable and source of social value.
Who forms the Provincial Council of Reusers?
It is a public-private body, formed by technicians from the provincial institution itself, and people of recognized professional experience in different economic sectors.
Specifically, by the public side, the Council is composed of a person in charge of the following areas:
- Administration and Public Innovation
- Economic Promotion and International Relations Service
- Municipal Computing
- Internal Engineering Service
- Computer and Development
- Infrastructure Survey and the Geographic Information Service
- Management of the Provincial Tourism Board
- Budget Office
- Data Governance Unit
While the private party will have representatives from the following sectors and areas:
- Agricultural and irrigation sector.
- Transportation and logistics sector.
- Health sector.
- Cultural sector.
- Communication sector.
- Social and cooperation field.
- Science, technology and business field.
These professionals will meet once a quarter - although they can also be called in an extraordinary way, requested by the majority of their members - to hold a conversation that allows for constant feedback and enrichment of the Open Data Strategy of the provincial government.
With this action the provincial government of Castellón takes another step in its commitment to open data, promoting its reuse to generate products and services that add value to the whole society.
