Second Action Plan for International Open Data Collaboration
Fecha de la noticia: 03-02-2017

With the goal of involving and promoting the collaboration of the global open data community, the first open data roadmap was created after the third edition of the International Open Data Conference in Canada in 2015. An action plan that included a set of core activities to maximize the potential of openness and re-use of information.
The Open Data for Development (OD4D) network has been working with a number of international organizations to reflect on the progress made over the last two years in preparation for the last conference edition, held in Madrid last October and, in this way, to ensure the discussion at IODC16 on those actions needed to address the challenges of the sector.
During the event, a number of sessions were organized where speakers and participants discussed the steps to be taken to solve the real problems at local level through open data, identifying seven areas of action.
These action areas form the Second Action Plan for International Collaboration designed to promote cooperation at global and regional level. Based on the first version of 2015, this new program becomes a working document that serves as a guide for those open data collaborations and projects that will take place until the next edition of the IODC in 2018. In this way, the purpose of this plan is to strengthen networks, create joint initiatives and align international strategies to accelerate the progress over the next few years.
Regarding each of the above areas, the plan addresses the current challenges faced by the open data community, challenges identified during the International Conference and it also includes a set of recommendations to be carried out over the next few years to maximize the positive impact of open data.
In order to advance in this action plan, the IODC has launched an online discussion forum where users can share their knowledge and experiences for each of the areas, exchange ideas and collaborate in the global open data agenda until the next edition of the Conference has place in the city of Buenos Aires.
