10 proposals have been selected among the 40 ideas presented in Phase I of the Aporta Challenge 2019. Now the second phase begins, where participants will have to develop a prototype in 4 months and present it in front of a jury of experts in the field. Prototypes may consist of simulations, visualizations, videos or multimedia solutions.

Of the 10 selected ideas, 3 have been presented by individuals and 7 by teams. Most are ideas for developing websites or mobile applications, including a chatbots and a search engine. It is also important to highlight the great importance of data analysis and predictive models among the selected ideas, as well as the use of information in real time. The immediacy is one of the fundamental characteristics of the current economic and social context, therefore tools that provide reliable information at the right time to improve decision-making are increasingly needed.

The selected proposals are listed below:

  • Optimacis system for optimizing the commercialization of fish at the point of origin: Predictive model that offers an objective assessment of the prices of fish caught.
  • Mushroom alert: Mobile application for mushroom pickers that shows, in real time, the species of edible wild fungi with socioeconomic interest (HSC) that are bearing fruit in the region.
  • Mobile application for precision fertigation using regenerated water: Mobile application that allows users to optimally program irrigation and fertilization using regenerated water.
  • Simple and multipurpose exploration of a five-star forest inventory: interactive web map that facilitates access and use of data from the National Forest Inventory (IFN), through the creation of a five-star Linked Open Data (LOD) source.
  • EmpreRur (Entrepreneur + Rural): application that unifies information from different sources to facilitate decision-making related to starting or maintaining a business in a rural area.
  • Ruralist: find your town: Web application that, through a chatbot, helps users locate the ideal location to install and / or develop a business in rural areas.
  • LiDAR Popular Grove Measuring: Web system oriented to measure popular groves volume at local level in La Rioja.
  • EcoVeo, your ecological agri-food map: Web application that allows you to visualize on a map more than 36,000 ecological agri-food operators and access their detailed information.
  • AGROCLIMA: Comprehensive management of open access meteorological variables for agricultural planning. Mobile application that provides in real time the necessary meteorological variables to optimize agricultural activities (fertilization, fumigation, irrigation).
  • SmartTravel: Web search engine to locate sustainable destinations based not only on the hotel, but also on the environment (air quality, noise pollution, municipal sustainability indicators, etc.)

The ideas selected have in common the search for the efficiency of the agri-food, forestry and rural sectors, taking care of the environment. These ideas could drive businesses that attract new inhabitants to rural areas with low population density, generating a sustainable ecosystem over time.
