Planttes is a citizen science project that aims to inform about the presence and state of allergenic plants in our environment, in order to know the level of allergy risk. The project is promoted by the Aerobiological Information Point (PIA) of the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology (ICTA-UAB) and the Department of Animal Biology, Plant Biology and Ecology (BABVE) of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and the Air Quality Unit (UCBA-UGR) of the Botany Department of the University of Granada (UGR).

The application focuses on the 11 most important allergenic plants in the Mediterranean region. Through a phenological state map, based on whether the flower is closed, open and/or in fruit stage, it shows whether the allergy risk is low, close or maximum. The data is detailed at street level, making it a good complement to the information previously generated by the participating agencies.

The fact of displaying the information on a map allows users to decide the most advisable routes to follow in the urban environment, avoiding those places where the plants that cause allergy are concentrated.
The project has been selected by the European Open Data Portal as one of the examples to be analysed in its Use Case Observatory.
