Open the call for papers for the new edition of TourismKG 2019

After the success of the first edition, TourismKG, the international workshop on knowledge graphs on travel and tourism, returns. If last year, the workshop take place during the ICWE congress (International Conference on Web Engineering), this year the appointment will be hold during the 22nd International Conference on Business Information Systems (BIS 2019), in Seville from June 26 to 28.
The workshop is organized by Ontology Engineering Group, responsible for DBpedia del español, TAIGER and ODI Madrid. Its objective is to increase awareness of the importance of knowledge graphs in the tourism industry, as well as to discuss its challenges and opportunities, use cases, possible improvements and commercial exploitation.
Let us remember that knoledges graphs allow to link concepts through the integration of data sets, using semantic web techniques, such as ontologies or vocabularies that result in machine-readable data. Knowledge graphs can be very useful for the tourism sector, in a context where an increasing number of people use applications to plan their trips; Some applications that need to link data in a fast and efficient way to provide the client with the information they demand practically in real time.
To create the agenda of the event, a call for participation has been launched. Those interested can submit keynote, paper presentations, and hands-ons that respond to any of the 4 thematic categories available:
- Open data, proprietary data, semantic web and tourism: in this category you can talk about the discovery and reuse of tourism data from open portals or the possibility of creating tourist attractions rankings using open indicators, among other topics.
- Ontologies and vocabularies for travel and tourism: in this category you can present works that explore concepts such as thesauri, metadata schemas or the use and development of standard, such as SKOS.
- Knowledge graphs generation and completion for travel and tourism sector: here, for example, there are reflections on manual information extraction (through crowdsourcing techniques) or data transformation from formats such as CSV or JSON to knowledge graphs.
- Techniques and applications of knowledge graphs for travel and tourism: where you can address the application of machine learning techniques or conversational systems, such as chatbots, among others.
Proposals must be submitted before April 15. Both full papers (maximum 12 pages) and short papers (maximum 4 pages) will be accepted. But, in the second case, an extended version (up to 12 pages) will have to be provided after the workshop and will be reviewed as a regular full paper.
The authors of those accepted papers will be given a presentation time slot of 25 minutes, with 5 minutes Q&A.
It is a unique opportunity for experts and professionals in this field to share their knowledge and debate about knowledge graphs, and its application to a field of high economic and social interest, such as tourism.
