Within European Data Portal programme, a survey is being run to gather information on entities that create products and/or services based on the re-use of open data. Thus, thanks to these examples, it will be possible to illustrate the real economic impact of re-using open data in European private sector.
The survey is addressed to small enterprises and multinational companies, regardless of their size or turnover. Among the survey results, 25 case practices will be chosen for a detailed interview; sharing, afterwards, those real stories on the European Data Portal.
A project team will analyse the collected information in accordance with strict standards of confidentiality and applicable European data protection law. It will be used exclusively for the purposes of scientific and statistical research into the open data community and its practices.
Improved performance of public administrations, economic growth at the company level or wider social welfare are some of the benefits of re-using open data. In fact, the report on Creating Value through Open Data estimates that between 2016 and 2020, the market size of open data will increase by 36.9%, to a value of 75.7 bn EUR. For all these reasons, European Data Portal wishes to collect examples of open data re-use to further promote and spread the benefits of open data. Let’s participate!
