Balance Iniciativa Aporta 2016
Description

Since it was launched in 2009, the Iniciativa Aporta has been working day by day in favour of the openness and re-use of public sector information in Spain. A constant effort to ensure that the country is an international benchmark for open data, according to the results of the latest European Data Portal report.

Iniciativa Aporta has become the meeting point for each stakeholder of the open data ecosystem- citizens, professionals, public bodies and reusers. Thus, it is possible to ensure that the movement grows nationally and maximize the positive impact of open data through the development of new business models, the modernization of public administrations or the citizen participation in government processes.

In this road, 2016 has been an important year for Aporta. The efforts made to date have materialized in a sound community around the initiative, with more than eleven thousand followers on Twitter; the weekly dissemination of the latest news and trends in the sector through more than a hundred posts, monthly newsletters to 1,700 subscribers, reports prepared by experts and interviews with professionals in the industry; active monitoring of success stories and best practices; the organization of national and global events such as the last edition of the International Open Data Conference and, as a final touch to this year of dedication, the publication of a new open data portal in December with more than 12,000 datasets.

In order to show the milestones achieved in the last months, in Iniciativa Aporta we have created an infographic that shows the most remarkable data of this project, reflecting the commitment of the public administrations with the re-use of the information and the forthcoming work in 2017: A year full of new objectives and goals that help us to continue advancing in the openness of the data.
