Description
Xatkit is a platform for the creation of chatbots that seeks to solve one of the big problems of open data: its real impact for ordinary citizens who do not have the technical knowledge to examine "raw" data.
Through a conversational interface generated by Xatkit using open data resource, citizens can "talk" with open data through the chatbot, asking and making inquiries just as they were talking to an expert on the subject.

Xatkit is a generic and extensible platform for the creation of digital assistants. With Xatkit the user can create his/her bot and then deploy it and connect it easily to external services. To do this, users can use the Xatkit platforms by default or create their own. It also includes support for voice applications.
Xatkit follows a "low-code" philosophy that allows bots to be created without programming skills. But the Xatkit team also offers custom professional chatbot creation services. Together with the client they define the scope of the chatbot, the data that the chatbot should be able to consume and "understand" and the type of questions it should answer. Likewise,Xatkit team also defined the platforms it should be available on (the client's website, Facebook, Twitter, ...).

In a first phase, public administrations (at all levels: local, regional, national, European ...) have opened data of general interest. But once all these initiatives have been created, many users feel that the money invested is not translated into a real impact. For that reason, the administrations are now starting to look for ways to maximize that impact. This is where Xatkit comes in.

The current chatbots are very oriented to answer descriptive questions, that is, to provide specific facts and data. But the usual questions related to economic or social data are often diagnostic or predictive, and sometimes even prescriptive. All of them require that chatbots understand questions with statistical and mathematical operators (eg what is the average value of the apartments? How much more expensive are the apartments that are close to a park vs. those that are not? Are the prices going up?). Xatkit works to generate chatbots that are able to understand and answer these kinds of more complex questions.
