The methodological proposal of SIRIS Academic is based on the prerogatives of innovation, science, data and open government. At a technical level, this is based on and translates into the use of semantic web paradigm advanced technologies, which allow to integrate, connect and exploit data from various sources, with various formats. The added value is the ability to perform complex, multidimensional queries and visualizations, combining different sources of data, concepts and domain entities. SIRIS Academic technological platform and developments are in compliance with open data standards of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and the European Commission. In particular, its platforms consume, produce and make data accessible using Linked Open Data format.

In this context, SIRIS Academic has developed UNiCS (www.unics.cloud), an initiative that offers an open data platform based on semantic technologies that integrates open data repositories on Higher Education and Research in Europe. UNiCS offers applications for regional governments, universities, research centers, agencies and funding entities based on personalized data for different purposes and users (from analysis to accountability). The applications developed from UNiCS are interactive and exploratory, draw different sources to forecast possible scenarios, discovering trends and allowing comparison. These applications emphasize openness and transparency, supporting contextualized monitoring and responsible evaluation.

Improve the scalability of the services offered by Open Data UNiCS platform (data integration, maintenance and improvement of current data), as well as its areas of action (collaborations with public organizations and evangelization of the Linked Open Data standards in the public institutions). At company level, increase its expertise in advising clients in the development of solutions based on the integration and analysis of Open Data for evidence-based solutions for public policies.
