In the coming weeks, the data ecosystem will be the protagonist of meetings, conferences and activities that promote innovation around its opening, management and use. Professionals and amateurs will have multiple opportunities to train, share experiences and learn about the latest trends in open data, geospatial information, open source tools, artificial intelligence, etc.

In order to facilitate access to these initiatives, we have compiled some free events and activities, both face-to-face and online, that will take place in Spain and internationally.

Zerve × ODSC AI: Datathon

This 24-hour hackathon, organized by Open Data Science Conference (ODSC) AI and Zerve, invites intermediate and advanced data science profiles to immerse themselves in a real work environment, manipulating large volumes of information and technical metadata.

Participants will be able to work in person or virtually, accessing a prepared cloud environment, live mentoring and an initial repository that allows them to start analyzing without prior configuration. In addition, the event offers access to ODSC conference sessions, networking opportunities,  and a $10,000 prize.

Webinar: “Moving from harmful platforms to social technologies”

The Digital Public Goods Alliance is organising this webinar focused on how digital platforms should avoid negative effects on their users and society. The starting point will be a recent report by the Norwegian Consumer Council, which analyzes a phenomenon known as "enshittification": the process by which a digital platform loses quality and usefulness by prioritizing its own profits over the user experience. During the session, the main findings of the report will be presented and explore how to build social technologies that better connect people, strengthen participation and support informed public debate.

It will feature the participation of the Open Knowledge Foundation, as well as representatives of Norwegian and French public bodies, among others.
