The Aporta Meeting 2019 agenda and the registration form are now available

The 9th edition of the Aporta Meeting 2019will take place on December 18 at the headquarters of the Assembly Hall of the Secretary of State for Digital Advancement in Madrid (Calle del Poeta Joan Maragall 41). This year the event will be focused on high-value data - that is, data related to the geospatial, environmental, meteorological, statistical, commercial and mobility categories, in accordance with Directive (EU) 2019 / 1024 - due to its great potential to generate socio-economic benefits and boost innovative services.
To address this issue, representatives of public organizations, companies and entities that are promoting and working with this type of data have been invited to share their experience, as well as their vision of the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
The event will begin at 9:00 and will last until 15:00. The opening will be carried out by José Antonio Benedicto, Secretary of State for Public Function, and Francisco Polo Llavata, Secretary of State for Digital Advance.
Next, 3 round tables will take place:
- 10: 00-10: 45. TABLE 1: Towards the availability of high value data. Representatives of the Spanish National Geographic Institute (IGN), the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) and the Municipal Transport Company (EMT) will discuss the current availability of high-value data and the future needs to respond to the demands of the users. The table will be moderated by the National Geographic Information Center (CNIG).
- 11: 15-12: 30. TABLE 2: Accelerating the use of high value data. This table will be formed by representatives of accelerators that are promoting new businesses based on open high-value data: Data Market Service, Copernicus Accelerator, Correos Lab, PARSEC and Eticas Research & Consulting. They will report on calls and the following steps to join these programs, while analyzing the existing barriers in the sector. All this, under the moderation of Red.es, within the framework of the Aporta Initiative.
- • 12: 30-13: 30. TABLE 3: New technological paradigms and the importance of data for their development. The last table will focus on the business opportunities offered by the availability and reuse of high-value data and the generation of new business models. Representatives of The Open Data Initiative de Microsoft, IBM, Google Daset Search, and Ernst & Young will participate in this table, under the moderation of Taiger.
The event will end with the presentation of the awards for the Aporta Challenge 2019, the ideas and prototypes contest of the Aporta Initiative, which this year was focused on the search for projects to improve the efficiency of the agri-food and forestry sector, and the rural environment.
The closure will be carried out by Fernando de Pablo Martín, General Secretary of Digital Administration in the Ministry of Territorial Policy and Public Function, and David Cierco Jiménez de Parga, General Director of Red.es.
